Principal Lawyer (Property)

Position Title: Principal Lawyer (Property)
Salary: Grade 10 £41,967 to £43,821 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent Full Time
Location: Peter House, Oxford Street, Manchester, M1 5AN

Legal Services of Manchester and Salford merged in 2012. We have a vacancy for a Principal Property Lawyer role within the Property Section, which is part of the wider Regeneration Group.

This is a rare opportunity to be part of the first ever local government legal service providing first class legal support to two ambitious cities. Our vision is to be a legal service that is recognised nationally as best practice in the public sector and we are now looking to appoint an outstanding individual to help further that vision.

Manchester Legal Services are currently acting and advising on a number of large regeneration schemes and this is also an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to contribute towards the regeneration of the cities of Manchester and Salford by having a significant involvement with major property transactions and regeneration schemes undertaken in those cities.

You will:
  • lead a team of experienced property lawyers,
  • be a key member of the senior management team,
  • have good knowledge and experience of drafting, structuring and dealing with high profile, high value and complex regeneration schemes and property transactions,
  • be able to demonstrate experience of building and maintaining good working relationships with clients (both internal and external),
  • be committed to working in a flexible manner including outside normal office hours,
  • be an effective communicator, be able to act on your own initiative and able to influence stakeholders and achieve the right outcomes,
  • be either a practising barrister, a solicitor or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.
Whilst a local government background and experience would be preferred it is not essential.

For an informal discussion about this role please contact Gaynor Corfe, Group Head (Property), Regeneration Division, on 0161 234 3118.

We are an Equal Opportunities Employer and we positively welcome applications from all candidates regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.
